John C. Kimberley
1933 - 2025
John C. “Jack” Kimberley, a devoted husband, esteemed veteran, accomplished financial services leader, and dedicated community servant, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of honor, service, and warmth.
Born on December 15, 1933, in New Haven, Connecticut, Jack’s early life was defined by his determination and bright spirit. He graduated from Scotch Plains High School in New Jersey in 1951 and earned his degree from Dartmouth College in 1955.
In June 1955, Jack was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and served with distinction in both active and reserve duty—from January 1956 to March 1970—as a Strategic Air Command Captain and air refueling pilot. His military service reflected his unwavering patriotism and commitment to excellence.
Following his military career, Jack embarked on a successful journey in financial services, culminating in his role as vice president, CEO, and director at Citizen's National Bank in Malone, New York. His leadership and expertise significantly enriched the community he served.
Jack’s personal life was equally profound. In June 1955, he married Cynthia Janes, and together they built a loving family, with three children and a son-in-law—Jennifer (Kimberley) Savage and Daniel Savage, Matthew Kimberley, and Christopher Kimberley. Although Matthew predeceased him, the cherished memories they shared continued to inspire his life. After Cynthia’s passing in 2000, Jack embraced a new chapter by marrying MaryLou in July 2003, blending their families with three stepchildren—Eric Fox, Sharon Taylor, and Christopher Fox.
His legacy also endures through his extended family, including eight grandchildren—Nicholas Sabin, Adam Sabin, Kate Nicolay, Justin Fox, James Fox, Spencer Fox, Bode Taylor, and Cole Taylor—and five great grandchildren—Jillian Sabin, Ace Sabin, Finn Sabin, Connor Nicolay, and Jackson Nicolay.
His commitment to service flourished through volunteer work. He served as president of the Malone Chamber of Commerce, was the Vice Chairman of the Village of Malone Housing Authority for 15 years, and held the esteemed position of Master of the Northern Constellation Masonic Lodge, #291, F&AM. For 20 years, he lent his financial acumen as treasurer of the executive board of Alice Hyde Medical Center and, in 1993, was named director emeritus of the center—a testament to his enduring impact on the institution and the community.
In retirement, Jack continued to share his passion and expertise. He worked seasonally on Martha’s Vineyard as a tour guide on Chappaquiddick with the Trustees of Reservations, delighting visitors with his extensive knowledge of the area.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jack’s remarkable life at Calvary United Methodist Church, 300 Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington MA on March 8, 2025, at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.
Jack’s integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family, country, and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
