Peter W. Castle, of Cambridge, passed away on August 12, 2024, at the age of 91.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Natalie (Berle) and Edwards S. Castle, Peter was raised in the suburbs of Boston and attended Putney School in Vermont; he graduated in 1951. He graduated from Harvard College in 1955.
He served in the United States Army from July of 1955 until June of 1957 with the Third Armored Division in Germany, just outside of the Russian Border.
Peter married Ellen E. Morse on August 24, 1957, at the Holden Chapel in Harvard Yard. They spent many wonderful years together in Cambridge until Ellen’s passing in 2008.
Peter received his PHD from Brandeis University and had a fruitful and successful career as professor of psychology at Simmons college for over thirty (30) years before retiring in 1998.
He leaves behind his loving children Stephen E. Castle and Amy E. Castle, his longtime companion Penny Adams. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Phil Castle. Peter was loved by many friends and relatives, who will greatly miss him.
A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date.
