Loving father and father-in-law of Patricia and David Haviland, Valerie and Dennis Coll, Regina Pontes and his late son Richard James Pontes. Devoted grandfather of Michael and Kathryn Haviland & Daniel and Elizabeth Coll. Beloved brother-in-law of Jim, Ray, Ruth, Kathleen, Ellen, Christine, Virginia and the late Mary, Tom, Franny, Audrey and George. Dear son of the late Mary (Costa) and Manuel Pontes of Cambridge. Visiting hours at Rogers and Hutchins Funeral Home, 292 Mass Ave., Arlington, Saturday 8:30 to 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 at St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Richard proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. Lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of America and the Arlington Lodge of Elks. Retired employee of the US Postal Service.
